The Amphipôle building on the Unil campus was designed by architects Guido Cocchi and Frédéric Brugger. Constructed in just 18 months between 1969 and 1970, it was the first building completed on the new Dorigny campus. It was initially used by the medical faculty.
The building layout is designed to integrate with the surrounding topography. On the lake side, atop a small hill, the lower section opens into a spacious covered area, while on the Jura side, the structure consists of four levels, accommodating the terrain's natural slope.
