Guido Cocchi

Guido Cocchi was a Swiss architect, born in Zurich in 1928 to parents from Ticino. After training as a draftsman, he pursued architecture at the École polytechnique de l'Université de Lausanne (EPUL, now EPFL), drawn by the opportunity to learn a third national language. In 1967, he designed the first building on the new Unil campus in Dorigny, the Collège propédeutique (now Amphipôle), inaugurated in 1970. Cocchi later became the head architect for Unil, overseeing campus development and designing four key buildings. He retired in 1995 and passed away on November 9, 2010.
