The Stadthaus Zürich was designed by Gustav Gull and completed in 1900. The atrium is in the style of the Italian Neo-Renaissance with a mural by Swiss painter Wilhelm Ludwig Lehmann.
Its vaulted ceiling uses #8 Falconnier Hollow Glass Bricks. In order to protect the bricks and mortar, a glass roof is installed above.
Around 300 employees of the city of Zürich still work here daily and Zürich's government meets every Wednesday morning in the Stadthaus.
