Located in Vevey, on the shores of Lake Geneva, Ville "Le Lac" Le Corbusier was designed by Le Corbusier and completed in 1923.
Conceived as a modest lakeside retreat for his parents, the house embodies the early formulation of Le Corbusier’s architectural principles and is widely considered a precursor to his later theoretical and built work. Measuring just 64 square meters, the single-storey structure exemplifies radical spatial economy, integrating functional living areas within a narrow, elongated footprint that responds closely to its site. The villa's minimalist aesthetic situates it within the early International Style and reflects the influence of emerging modernist ideals in the post–World War I context.
