The Synagogue de La Chaux-de-Fonds was built between 1894 and 1896 to plans by architect Richard Kuder. It was consecrated on May 13 1896 by Rabbi Jules Wolff. The buildings Neo-byzantine design took inspiration from the synagogue in Strasbourg and used stones from different regions in Switzerland: Jura limestone, Alpine granite and Solothurn marble.
Its interior is decorated with magnificent geometric paintings.
The 32 meter high cupola is illuminated by 24 windows. At its center is a Star of David from which rays with the names of biblical characters extend.
The Synagogue de La Chaux-de-Fonds is listed in the Swiss Inventory of Cultural Property of National and Regional Significance.
