The Kongresshaus Biel/Bienne was designed by Max Schlup and built between 1960 and 1966. It is composed of a narrow 17-storey high-rise with office space and the congress center with a public swimming pool. At the time of construction, its congress center's roof was one of the largest suspended roofs in Europe.
Since 2009, the art installation "Beautiful steps" by Sabina Lang and Daniel Baumann is shown on the side of the high-rise. A staircase without handrail seems to link two stories of the building.
Kongresshaus Biel is a listed building since 2001.
