The Masoala Rainforest in the Zürich Zoo was inaugurated in 2003. The 10000 square meter large hall was designed by architect Gautschi Storrer and is heated and cooled mainly using an array of 50, 250m deed, geothermal probes. Its treetop walkway was added in 2013.
