Wohn- und Gewerbesiedlung Kalkbreite was designed by Müller Sigrist Architekten and built between 2012 and 2014. It is a mixed-use development above the tram depot in Kalkbreite used by the Zurich Transport Authority. The settlement comprises 88 residential units, including family apartments, one-room apartments, apartments for shared flats with up to 14 rooms and a large household for 50 people with a shared kitchen.[3] The large household is an intermediate form between shared flats and individual flats, a kind of «household association».[1] A small apartment is available to the residents as a retreat, but they share the kitchen, living room and possibly also the guest room.[6]
