Inaugurated in July 2004, the Tour de Moron was designed by Mario Botta and built by around 700 stonemasonry apprentices over the course of 4 years. It is located at an altitude of 1,300m on top of the Moron mountain in the Bernese Jura.
209 stairs, lead to the platform at a height of 26 meters with an incredible panoramic view ! Unfortunately, in the summer of 2022, around forty of the 400kg heavy steps collapsed, causing the tower to close. An investigation if this was caused by a design or material defect is currently ongoing. The "Tour de Moron" foundation hopes that the tower can be reopened in two to three years.
