The Maison de la Culture du Japon in Paris has a total surface area of approximately 7,500 square meters. Its architecture was designed by Masayuki Yamanaka and Kenneth Armstrong, winners of the architectural competition organized in 1989. It was built between 1994 and 1997.
The building's eleven floors are split among six above-ground floors and five underground floors. Its curve mirrors the curve of the Australian Embassy, located on the other side of the street.
