The Cinémathèque Française, established in 1936, holds one of the world's largest and most significant film archives.
Its current home, was designed by architect Frank Gehry for the American Center and inaugurated in 1993. After the American Center closed for budgetary reasons in 1996, the interior was redesigned by local firm l’Atelier de l’Île, and it has been the home of the Cinémathèque française since 2005. The structure features a flowing, asymmetrical façade crafted from stone, glass, and zinc, embodying Gehry's signature style.
