Since 2000, Tate Modern is located inside the former Bankside Power Station with its almost 100m high central tower. The building was converted for museum use by Swiss architects Herzog & de Meuron between 1995 and 2000. The 65m high Switch House extension was also designed by Herzog & de Meuron and opened in 2016. The Tate Modern is now the world's most visited museum of Modern Art.
At the center of the museum is the large turbin hall, serving as a large plaza and distributing the flow of visitors into the different exhibitions
The former oil tanks opened as an additional museum space in 2012.
