Its basement is home to the Icon Museum, Switzerland’s only museum of icons. On display are over 60 sacred images of Russian origin.
The old Burghalde was built in 1628 for Hans Jacob Spengler. Among its standout features is the Baroque Hall constructed between 1704 and 1718 and adorned with an elaborate stucco ceiling. Above the fireplace, an alliance coat of arms references the owners, Lucas and Margareta Gernler-Spengler.
