The first hospital in Lausanne was founded in 1282 by Bishop Guillaume de Champvent. The building was totally reconstructed between 1766 and 1771 to plans by Rodolphe de Crousaz. Since 1879, it is used as a school and the building is now known as "Ancien hôpital" (the old hospital).
