The EPFL Pavilions are the result of an architecture competition held in 2012. The winning design was by Japanese architect Kengo Kuma. His first project in Switzerland was realised in collaboration with the local architecture practice CCHE.
Inaugurated in November 2016, the almost 250m long EPFL Pavilions are an exhibition space allowing a dialog between art and scientific innovation. The width of the building varies from 6m to 16m and the roof is covered with black slate.
