The new building combines a data center on the top floor with a vast underground network to the Léman in order to maximise its use of renewable energies.
Buildings on the EPFL campus can now be heated using heat pumps connected to the water of the Léman. In addition to that, the facades of the CCT building are entirely covered with photovoltaic panels. The data center on the first floor contains server racks whose doors are designed to circulate water in order to cool down the servers.
The building was designed by architectural practice Architram and completed in 2021.
