Apple Park, located in Cupertino, California, is the corporate headquarters of Apple Inc. Conceived by the renowned architectural firm Foster + Partners and built on the site of the former Hewlett Packard headquarters, Apple Park officially opened to employees in April 2017. 80% of the campus consists of green space.
Apple Park Visitor Center
The Apple Park Visitor Center is the only Apple Park building open to non employees. It includes an Apple Store, a café, and an exhibition space. Using the same materials as the Apple Park corporate headquarters, the visitor center's glass walls and open spaces create a seamless connection with the surrounding landscape. The rooftop terrace provides a vantage point to observe the surrounding area, including the circular headquarters building.
Set within a small park next to the Apple Park Visitor Center, the public sculpture Mirage was created by artist Katie Paterson. It consists of over four hundred cast glass columns, made of sand collected from deserts across the world.
Apple Park
The four-story Apple Park building is clad in the world's largest panels of curved glass and accommodates over 12,000 employees. The perfect circle with a diameter of over 460 meters is grouped into eight radial wings connected by small atria. Its design aims to foster collaboration by providing open, interconnected spaces that encourage spontaneous interactions among employees. The building's ventilation system is designed to provide natural airflow, reducing the need for traditional air conditioning for much of the year.
The campus is powered entirely by renewable energy, including an extensive array of solar panels on the roof. The park is home to over 9,000 drought-resistant trees, including apricot, olive, and apple orchards, which enhance the site's biodiversity and create a serene, park-like atmosphere.
Steve Jobs Theater
The Steve Jobs Theater is a 1,000-seat auditorium dedicated to product launches and corporate events. As the auditorium itself is below ground, visitors enter through a 50 meter wide cylindrical glass entry pavilion with a carbon fiber roof. It is the largest carbon-fiber roof and the largest glass-supported structure in the world.
