The Catholic Church Saint-Pierre in Bussigny was built in 1969 to plans by Swiss architect Hanns Anton Brütsch, renowned for his innovative church designs. It is one of 17 Fastenopfer (Swiss Catholic Lenten Fund) churches built in the 1960s and 1970s.
The simple structure with a tent roof at a 45-degree angle was constructed using reinforced concrete. As the roof extends to the ground, no side walls were needed. Group rooms and offices were incorporated into the rear part of the building.
The colourful windows by Swiss artist Yoki were added in 2009 to commemorate the church's 40th anniversary.
While the Fastenopfer churches were supposed to be temporary buildings, out of the 17 initially constructed ones, 16 are still in use today !
