The Parish Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Brig was built between 1968 and 1970. The plans were by Jean and Nadine Iten, winners of the architectural competition with their project entitled "Via Sacra". The new church was inaugurated on September 27, 1970.

The church's roof is suspended between the central tower and the exterior walls. Brig artist Hans Loretan created the altar and cross. The colorful windows were designed by Jacques Düblin and were created by Aubert Verriers in Ecublens.
