James Turrell

James Turrell, born in 1943 in Los Angeles, is an American artist renowned for his exploration of light and perception. With a background in perceptual psychology and fine arts, Turrell began working with light as a primary medium in the 1960s as part of the Southern California Light and Space movement. His works often manipulate viewers’ spatial perception using natural and artificial light in carefully constructed environments. His work has been exhibited internationally and is represented in major museum collections worldwide.
