Auguste Rodin

Auguste Rodin was born in Paris in 1840 and became one of the most influential sculptors of the modern era. Initially rejected by the École des Beaux-Arts, he developed his own naturalistic style, laying the foundations for modern sculpture. Among his most well known works are The Thinker, The Kiss, and The Gates of Hell. He died in Meudon, near Paris, in 1917.
