The Grand Hotel Amrâth in Amsterdam is a five-star hotel housed in one of the city's most striking architectural landmarks.
Originally built as the Scheepvaarthuis (Shipping House), this historic building was constructed between 1913 and 1916 as the headquarters for six shipping companies. The architectural plans were created by Joan Melchior van der Mey, in collaboration with Michel de Klerk and Piet Kramer, leading figures in the Amsterdam School of architecture, a style known for its expressive brickwork and ornate detailing.
The stained-glass ceiling above the main staircase, created by glazier William Bogtman, shows nautical themes.
