The A'DAM Toren is an iconic skyscraper in Amsterdam, constructed between 1966 and 1971 as the headquarters for Royal Dutch Shell to plans by Dutch architect Arthur Staal. Standing 22 stories tall and rising 100 meters above the ground, the A'DAM Toren features a sleek, angular design that boldly contrasts with Amsterdam's historic cityscape. The tower's facade is characterized by its modernist aesthetic, with expansive glass panels and clean lines that emphasize transparency and light. The top floors are cantilevered, creating a distinctive silhouette that is visible from across the city.
After Shell left the tower in 2009, it underwent a significant transformation between 2012 and 2016 led by Dutch architectural firm OeverZaaijer, in collaboration with Claus en Kaan Architecten. Its panoramic observation deck known as A'DAM Lookout features an over-the-edge swing and provides breathtaking views of Amsterdam and beyond.
