Warsaw's metro station Plac Wilsona was built between 2004 and 2005 to plans by Polish architect Andrzej M. Choldzynski. It is part of the M1 line and located below Wilson Square in northern Warsaw.
Its ceiling is covered with ellipses in different colours, giving the impression of being inside a giant UFO. This roof construction which is unique for the Warsaw metro not only serves for the necessary illumination, but at the same time also compensates for the metro noise.
In 2008, at the Metro Rail Conference in Copenhagen, it was awarded the title of the "Best Metro Station in the World". In 2014, CNN put it on its list of the most impressive metro stations in Europe.
