The history of Château de Vullierens goes back to 1308. The current castle in the French classical style was built for Gabriel-Henri de Mestral between 1706 and 1712. The plans were created by a student of French architect Jules Hardouin-Mansart.
The property has remained in the same family for 700 years and the interior of the castle cannot be visited. It is well worth the visit though for its iris and sculpture garden.
