The three-story high Tokyo station building was designed by Tatsuno Kingo and inaugurated in 1914. Most of the station was destroyed during firebombing on May 25 1945. The octagonal ceiling with its 8 eagles was rebuilt according to the original design. The keystone is inspired by a 15th century military commander's helmet
