The Passage in The Hague is a historic shopping arcade that stands as one of the city's most iconic landmarks. Opened in 1885, The Passage is the oldest shopping arcade in the Netherlands and a prime example of 19th-century architectural grandeur and urban design.
Designed by architect Herman Wesstra Jr. and J.C. van Wijk, The Passage features an elegant Neo-Renaissance style, characterized by its intricate ironwork, grand arches, and glass-domed roof that allows natural light to flood the interior. Originally connecting Spuistraat and Buitenhof, The Passage was extended in 1929 to plans by Jos. Duynstee with a third arm towards Hofweg.
