The Stadtbibliothek am Mailänder Platz in Stuttgart, designed by Korean architect Eun Young Yi, is an iconic example of contemporary minimalist architecture. Completed in 2011, the library is a cube-shaped structure, with each side measuring 44 meters. The building’s exterior is clad in pale gray glass bricks, creating a monolithic appearance that contrasts with the dynamic interior. At night, it is illuminated in blue.
The stark white interior is characterized by clean lines and open spaces, emphasizing simplicity and order. The main reading room is particularly striking, featuring tiered galleries that create a sense of depth and perspective.
