The Link in Rotterdam, also known as the KPN Tower, was designed by Renzo Piano and constructed between 1998 and 2000. Rising nearly 100 meters beside the Erasmus Bridge, the tower is a striking example of structural expressionism. Its defining feature is the dramatic 5.9-degree forward lean, made possible by an exposed 50-meter-long steel support pillar on the south façade. This external bracing system, combined with the visible structural grid, transforms the building’s load-bearing elements into powerful architectural statements, expressing the engineering logic as part of the design itself.
