Officially opened in 2014 after an extensive renovation and redesign, the station is celebrated for its striking contemporary architecture, which blends functionality with aesthetic innovation. The new design was a collaborative effort by Team CS, a consortium of architectural firms Benthem Crouwel Architects, MVSA Meyer en Van Schooten Architecten, and West 8.
The station's most iconic feature is its sharply angled, futuristic roof, which points towards the city center and creates a dynamic visual landmark.
