The new extension to the building of the National Research and Archiving Centre Cinémathèque Suisse in Penthaz was designed by architectural practice EM2N and completed in 2019. With over 85,000 films and documentaries, Cinémathèque suisse is recognized as one of the ten most important film libraries in the world based on the scope and quality of its collections.
The buildings are wrapped in Cor-Ten steel.
The windows remind of movie screens.
The collections are completely underground, ensuring maximum protection.
