Château de Langeais was rebuilt from 1465 under Louis XI on the site of an older stronghold. It retains the appearance of a fortified residence, with a defensive façade facing the town, complete with a drawbridge, while its courtyard side reveals large windows and sculpted details characteristic of the emerging French Renaissance.
In the late 19th century, the château underwent extensive restoration after its acquisition by Jacques Siegfried, who oversaw a careful reconstruction of the interiors and installed a notable collection of medieval furnishings and tapestries.

Inside, a sequence of reconstructed rooms evokes the life of a princely household in the 15th century, including the hall where the marriage of Anne of Brittany and Charles VIII was celebrated in 1491.
