Architectural Landmarks in Le Locle

Le Locle is a small town in the Swiss Jura with a population of just over 10000. Is is one of the centres of the Swiss watchmaking industry with roots going back several hundreds of years. In 1750, it already had over 70 watchmakers and that number increased to over 800 in 1800. Together with nearby city La Chaux-de-Fonds, it was recognised as a Unesco World Heritage Site in 2009. Le Locle has been home to manufactures of Tissot, Zenith, Montblanc and Certina, to name just a few, and its history in watchmaking is documented in the Musée d'Horlogerie du Locle. The following photo series highlight some of the town's most notable architectural landmarks.
