The Heiligkreuz Church near Hasle was built in 1588 at the location where, in 1344, Johannes von Aarwangen, a Cistercian brother from the monastery of St. Urban, had built a chapel and a hermit's house. It received its present appearance in 1753/1754 when architect Jakob Singer added a confessional and a tower to the originally late Gothic chapel.
