The building for the Museum of the Second World War in Gdańsk was designed by Studio Architektoniczne Kwadrat and inaugurated in 2017. It is located only 3 km from Westerplatte Peninsula which was attacked at the beginning of World War II in September 1939.
The project has three distinct parts with the underground museum spaces dedicated to the past, the vast plaza representing the present, and the over 40m high, sculptural, leaning tower symbolising the future.
