The Al Farooq Omar Bin Al Khattab Mosque, located in Dubai’s Al Safa district, was completed in 2011 and is often referred to as the "Blue Mosque". Its architectural design is heavily influenced by Ottoman-era architecture, particularly the grand mosques of Turkey. The mosque covers an area of over 8,700 square meters and can accommodate up to 2,000 worshippers at a time, making it one of the largest mosques in Dubai. Like a few other mosques in Dubai, it welcomes non-Muslims to visit and learn about Islam through guided tours and educational programs.
Al Farooq Omar Bin Al Khattab Mosque was designed by architect Muhammad Sheik Mubarak and was constructed by Team Engineering Enterprises. The exterior of the mosque is characterized by its whitewashed walls, impressive dome structure and towering, 60 meter high, minarets.
