The Royal Library of Belgium (KBR), situated on Brussels' Mont des Arts, houses over six million volumes and serves as the legal deposit for all Belgian publications. Its origins trace back to the 15th century with the collection of the Dukes of Burgundy, and it was formally established as the Royal Library in 1837.
The current building complex, constructed between 1954 and 1969, was designed by architects Maurice Houyoux, Roland Delers, and Jacques Bellemans. Occupying a site of 13,000 square meters, the library encompasses multiple levels, providing a total usable area of 67,000 square meters. The construction utilized reinforced concrete and steel.
