Giuseppe Penone

Giuseppe Penone, born April 3rd 1947 in Garessio, Italy is a sculptor and contemporary artist whose work has consistently explored the intimate relationship between humans and nature. Trained at the Accademia Albertina in Turin, he emerged in the late 1960s within the Arte Povera movement and gained early attention for works that intertwined raw materials and natural processes. Over his long career, Penone has become especially renowned for his sculptures of trees that reveal the hidden life of a trunk, evoke growth, memory, and the passage of time.
