Charles L'Eplattenier

Charles L'Éplattenier was born in 1874 in Neuchâtel, Switzerland. He started an apprenticeship as building painter in 1887, then attended Budapest's decorative arts school from 1890 to 1893. After additional courses at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris, he returned to Switzerland and taught drawing and decorative composition at the school of fine arts in La Chaux-de-Fonds. He died in 1946 from a fall during a hike along the River Doubs, near Brenets.
